Taking care

A little advice is always good to have, so we’ve written a handful of guides on things like day-to-day and once-in-a-while cleaning. You’ll find they’re organised by material, because something that applies to a timber kitchen can apply just as much to an oak table. It does mean that you’ll need to look at more than one guide for certain designs that include several types of material though.

Height-adjustable glides

Some of our freestanding furniture, like Wycombe and Moreton, features height-adjustable glides hidden in the bottom of the legs. Simply twist the glide anti-clockwise so it pulls out slightly, extending its reach and levelling your table or chair.

Levelling wedges

We supply levelling wedges with our sideboards. You may notice the cabinet doors don’t align perfectly or there are small gaps, which is common where you have uneven floors like in a period property. These robust, easy-to-use wedges lift the legs to achieve a level finish.

Height-adjustable feet

Our Chawton and kitchen collections feature integrated height-adjustable feet for levelling. You can access these feet from within the cabinet by removing the base panels. Using the allen key provided, turn each leg anti-clockwise to raise it and clockwise to lower it.

careGuide_timber
Timber

The material we use the most of all. You’ll find timber in almost all of our furniture collections and some of our accessories too. Here, we’ve included everything you’ll need to know about both painted and exposed wood; our treatment oil, IsoGuard®; and timber flooring.

careGuide_metal-glass
Metal and glass

Metal plays a part in a number of our designs, whether it’s something as large as a table’s legs, or as small as a drawer handle. Glass too, extends across tabletop pieces and photo frames to desks and coffee tables. You’ll also often see them together, and caring for both is very similar.

careGuide_Fabric
Textiles

Fabric by the metre, upholstery, scatter cushions and rugs – all use textiles of some sort, be it wool, velvet, linen or leather. Read on to learn more about everything from dealing with loose threads and how to prevent fading, to our thoughts on professional cleaning.

careGuide_surfaces
Surfaces

When we talk about ‘surfaces’, we mean the stone – be it natural or composite – that forms the worktops on things like kitchens and washstands. In this guide, we’ve also included the tiles that cover our walls and floors, and ceramic basins.

careGuide_garden
Garden

While we touch on garden furniture in our other care guides, this is where you’ll find specific advice on timber, metal, glass, stone and textiles that live outside, as well as caring for our all-weather wicker.

carGuide_othermaterials
Other woven materials

While you’ll find some of the woven materials in our collection – fabrics and the all-weather wicker in garden pieces – already in our other care guides, if you’re searching for the details on how to clean rattan, jute, rush or Lloyd Loom designs, you can read everything you need to know right here.
