The role
Our Merchandising team are responsible for the commercial life cycle of everything we sell at Neptune. Each team member is a specialist in a specific product area, and on any given day they may be tracking stock levels, organising our supply chain or analysing sales and margins. They're big fans of spreadsheets, continually looking at data to help us make the right decisions in ensuring our ever-growing collections of luxury furniture, stunning kitchens and home accessories are in the right place at the right time.
To support our growth, we are on the hunt for a dynamic Junior Merchandiser to complement our existing team. The pace is fast, fun and collaborative, so you'll need to bring a solid commercial awareness and a methodical approach in managing correct stock levels, whist being able to think on your feet. You will be responsible for the trading and planning of our seasons & managing required stock levels and curate premium and profitable product ranges in line with Neptune brand values. You'll also contribute to the ongoing development of the merchandising team, inspiring them to achieve their best and leading them to success.
In the world of merchandising at Neptune you'll support with curating a product range that will deliver against our planned sales growth by:
- Setting up WSSI's prior to the start of the season with Sales, Stock, Margin, Intake/OTB Plans, by category
- Supporting our merchandising lead with setting category budgets
- Maintaining and updating weekly sales, stock and intake on a weekly basis and highlighting any risks or opportunities by category
- Supporting Merchandising Lead in coordinating consolidation of total sales, stock and product summaries across UK and China
- Ensuring all plans meets sales, stock and customer demands
- Forecasting product sales and stock for the upcoming periods, accurately predicting requirements to fulfil customer demands.
- Managing stock levels ensuring they fall in line with set stock targets
- Other tasks that contribute to the development and success of the Merchandising department
Life here moves quickly, so you'll bring energy, enthusiasm and drive along with a "can-do" attitude and a desire to "get stuck in". That said, you'll be systematic, but flexible, as you'll need to be able to change plans in line with business needs. We are looking for someone with solid previous merchandising experience in a retail business with a broad knowledge of commercial and trading. You'll have excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret, communicate and present complex technical information to others in a clear and understandable way, and most importantly aspire to deliver above and beyond the call of duty every single day.
