Commercial / Market Development Manager - China

The role

At Neptune we are designers and makers of furniture, lighting and accessories for the whole home. We own our entire supply chain from manufacturing to distribution and retailing.
In Europe we have 30 unique stores, an e-commerce platform and a strong social media presence.


We are looking for an experienced sales and commercial professional to bring our brand to the Chinese market to establish a strong secondary market position close to our factory in China.
This includes formulating a go to market strategy based on our existing e-commerce b2c platform as well as developing new online/digital channels relevant for the Chinese market.
Following establishing an online presence, the Commercial Manager will be responsible for formulating and executing a physical retail strategy.

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for building a commercial organization around him/her which can execute the strategy and grow with Neptune’s presence on the Chinese market.

You'll also be responsible for setting up KPIs and metrics for commercial activity in China, reporting to the Commercial Director in the UK as well as the General Manager in China.

Ideally the role is based in Shanghai or Qingdao.

Key Qualifications

  • Solid, demonstrable experience in sales management with proven track record, ideally working with higher-end brands
  • Strategic vision and planning experience for medium and long term
  • Experience with taking a brand to a new market including building an online brand presence
  • Experience from retail, preferably homewares 
  • Experience with franchise and own retail models
  • Experience of multi-channel customer experience
  • Native Mandarin a must, with additional language skills in English, both written and verbal
