Assistant Merchandiser

Neptune HQ, Swindon - Permanent, full-time

The role

The commercial life cycle of everything we sell is the responsibility of our merchandising department. Each team member is a specialist in a specific product area, and on any given day they may be tracking stock, organising our supply chain or analysing sales and margins. They're big fans of spreadsheets, continually looking at data to help us make the right decisions, and then passing their findings on to the rest of the company.

We are offering a great opportunity where you'll amass lots of commercial experience with a luxury designer brand well known across UK and Europe for its beautiful home furnishings. Not only will you deal with suppliers around the world but you'll also work closely with our own supply chain, which starts with our talented manufacturing team in Asia.

At Neptune, the pace is fast, fun and collaborative which underpins life in our Merchandising team. They're a savvy and commercially aware bunch, always thinking ahead of the game to manage stock levels to meet financial targets and ensure our ever-growing collections of luxury furniture, stunning kitchens and home accessories are in the right place at the right time.

It's not all about number crunching though, in the world of merchandising at Neptune, here's just a few of the important skills we are looking for:

  • Supporting the team with collecting key merchandising information, data entry, reports preparation and analysis
  • With an exceptional eye for detail, you'll analyse sales, trading and stock trends along with monitoring product shipping dates
  • Your natural affinity for working with statistics and spreadsheets, backed up by intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel, will really be put to the test
  • Confident interpersonal skills will really help too, as you'll communicate with lots of people who are critical to ensuring that goods are received on time
  • An organised approach to reporting on container load plans, purchase orders, packing lists, invoices and lots more is an absolute must

Life here moves quickly and you'll bring energy, enthusiasm and drive along with a "can-do" attitude and a desire to "get stuck in". That said, you'll ideally have previous experience within similar level role in Merchandising within homewares and be very methodical, with a love of numbers and be a complete whizz on MS Excel, but most importantly aspire to deliver above and beyond the call of duty.

Our Story
Founded in 1996 by friends John Sims-Hilditch and Giles Redman, Neptune design and make pieces for your whole home. Recognised for our exacting standards, design-led aesthetic and expert craftsmanship, we're perhaps most known for kitchens - with heirloom-worthy dressers not far behind. Neptune's trademark 'look' is British: refined, simple, sturdy, and with an almost obsessive attention to detail. We're also respected for our commitment to craft and quality. Put simply, we make things we're proud of, and that are designed to last a lifetime.
